Shri Vinit Goenka, a renowned politician, social activist, and philanthropist was awarded as the Leader of Hope at the Indian Brand and Leadership Conclave 2022.
Vinit Goenka is a leading politician associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party for the past twenty-five years. From a booth-level worker in Mumbai to a national level politician as the National Co-Convenor of the IT Cell, he has come a long way. He is currently the Spokesperson for BJP Delhi Pradesh. He has also worked in the corporate sector for over twelve years before plunging into active politics. As a politician with a firm commitment to the nation, he is passionate about tapping technology to change the way India works and working towards making India’s data and knowledge sovereign. Vinit has proven expertise in various fields, including data sovereignty, information technology, transportation & infrastructure, and agriculture.
With a firm commitment, Vinit has become a Member of the Governing Council of CRIS – Centre for Railway Information System, an organisation under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. He was appointed as a member of the IT Task Force in the Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways and Shipping, Government of India in 2015. It is in these capacities that he has been working closely with several Union Ministers on the host of nationwide IT initiatives launched to achieve Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s mission, “Minimum Government Maximum Governance.”
Shri Goenka has served the BJP as the National Co-convener of the BJP central IT Cell. He spearheaded the digital strategy of the party from 2006 starting with the Maharashtra State level till the run-up to the general elections of 2014. His contribution to the landslide victory of the BJP in 2014 has been widely recognized by the party, media and society. He was also instrumental in the BJP 2014 Delhi elections led by Dr Harshvardhan as a CM candidate. Other than his role in active politics, Vinit has taken up several constructive initiatives for the welfare and development of India and society at large, such as AIMIT for the development of IT MSMEs, #ITforParivahan for IT initiatives in Transportation, #IT4Rail for IT initiatives in railways, #IT4Commerce, #IT4MHRD.
Vinit’s public initiatives like #LetstalkGovernance engaging people for accountability in politics, #MumbaiMetroMess highlighting the UPA apathy towards the Mumbai metro project and Nirman Eye donation awareness campaigns have earned huge applause and recognition. As the Secretary of the Centre for Knowledge Sovereignty, a think tank working in the space of data security, data sovereignty, data privacy, cybersecurity 2030 and knowledge sovereignty with a special focus on defence, education and information technology sectors, he has been instrumental in creating awareness in the country as well as globally on these important issues.
He has co-authored a Book “Data Sovereignty: The Pursuit of Supremacy” The First ever book on Data Localisation and Digital Colonisation from an Indian perspective. (Released on 21st May 2019) at Bombay Stock Exchange and then released in Delhi and across India. In 2020, he authored a book “Enemies Within” which is a thought-provoking book that exposes the anti-India narrative driving forces who try to demean our nation and create a social and religious divide in the country. The book has been released in English and Hindi Version.
A prolific speaker, Vinit is seen participating in discussions on national issues on a television channel. He has been quoted by several national and international newspapers as well as journals. Given his affability and flair for multi-tasking, he has been able to achieve milestones across sectors with ease. Vinit is truly a Leader of Hope.
